Ellie is directly integrated with Gmail Web and Outlook Web. With Ellie Anywhere, you can generate replies in other web-based email apps you open in a browser.
How it works
- Open the email you want to reply to in your email client (in a browser tab)
- Highlight the email text you want Ellie to reply to
- Press your Ellie keyboard shortcut (set during extension setup — usually Alt+E or configurable in extension settings)
- A popup appears where you can set the tone, add context, and generate a reply. Copy the text and paste it into your email client's reply box.
Supported email clients
Ellie Anywhere works in web-based email clients, including:
- Fastmail
- Missive
- Proton Mail
- Zoho Mail
- Yahoo Mail
- Other web email clients
For Gmail and Outlook Web, use the native integration. Ellie Anywhere is the fallback for other web email clients.
Desktop email apps
Ellie Anywhere only works inside a browser. It won't work in a native desktop email app (for example, Apple Mail.app or Outlook for Mac/Windows). For Outlook desktop, use the Outlook add-in instead.
Changing your shortcut
If the default shortcut clashes with something else, you can change it in your browser's extension settings:
- Chrome/Edge: chrome://extensions/shortcuts
- Firefox : about:addons → gear icon → Manage Extension Shortcuts
