If you've forwarded emails for training and they're not showing as processed, work through these steps.
Using a connected account? If you've connected your Gmail or Outlook account, Ellie learns your writing style automatically from your sent folder — you don't need to forward training emails manually. This article covers the manual "forward as attachment" training flow, which is mainly used by extension-only users.
Check: did you use "Forward as Attachment"?
This is the most common cause of failed training emails. Regular email forwarding (Forward) sends the original email as a quoted block in the body — Ellie can't read this. You must use "Forward as Attachment" (or "Forward as .eml") so the original email arrives as an attached .eml file.
Gmail : open the email → More (three dots) → Forward as attachment
Outlook : select the email → More actions → Forward as attachment
Check: did you send to the right address?
Your unique training email address is in Knowledge Base Training at app.tryellie.com/knowledge. Make sure you copied it correctly — it's unique to your account and emails sent to the wrong address won't be processed.
Email format issues
- The email must be a real .eml attachment
- Very short emails may not contain enough writing-style signal to be useful
